Village intro

Sea route that divides twice a day
Jebudo is a small island near Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong-gun, Kyounggi-do. Having an area of 1km2 and shoreline of only 12km long, Jebudo is smaller than Yeouido but many people come in weekends. The reason it has become such good sights is the sea dividing phenomenon(meaning a phenomenon during the ebb the sea-bed land that is higher than near grounds appears due to the sea-bed geography, making it look as if the sea is divided). Generally called 'the miracles of Moses,' Jebudo has become a renowned sight.

The sea route appears twice a day in Jebudo. During the ebb about 4~5m of the sea flows out and the paved road of 2.3km long appears. Looking at wetlands in both side of the road while driving is one of the greatest enjoyments one can find there. The top of Jebudo is only 62.5m above the sea level, which leaves most of the land flat except some part of hills. There is a town in the east which connects to the land and a small port(village people call it a hatch) in the north. The whole area of the island except the port in the north and Jeburi beach in the west coast is surrounded by the wetlands.

Jeyakbukyeong story
From old times Jebudo had been called 'Jeobi-island' or 'Jeobbi-island' meaning it looks far away from the land. But after the middle of the time of the Chosun dynasty, people started calling it 'Jeyakbukyeong' meaning people carried babies on their back and helping the older by hand while crossing the sea route between Songkyo-ri and Jebudo. Taking out 'Je' and 'bu' from 'Jeyakbukyoung' people started calling it 'Jeburi'.

Stories around Jebudo
Long, long time ago, a king was going to China due to the mess of the dynasty and happened to go to the hatch of Jebudo, when a woman served him water from a well and the taste of water was wonderful. Even now Jebudo is famous for the good taste of underground water.

In Emergency
If the doors get locked…
If you happen to leave the key inside the car and the doors get locked, it is easy to get embarrassed and to try to unlock it using a wire, but it's really not easy to unlock it these days if you're not an engineer, only to give some damage to the car. Car insurance companies do unlock services 2 ~ 3 times free these days. Call your insurance co, and within 10 - 15 minutes service guy will come and help you.
If a tire gets flat…
It's at least 6km to the nearest mechanics. But you can find a place to handle it in Jebudo. At the entrance of the island, go left 100m, you will see 'Ppang-gu' sign board in Korean.
