Introducing Ujeonri Village
 Ujeonri Village is formed around Seonghwangdang
that was enshrined about 350
years ago. The common value of the local
people is familial devotion and love of parents. On New Year¡¯s Day, the tradition is for all
former and current villagers to gather and bow to the local elderly. To preserve the tradition, Ujeonri Village
manages a folk museum and holds ¡°Songi Mushroom Festival and Samgut Festival¡±
every year in late September. This is
when urban dwellers and tourists can experience the lifestyle in the mountains.
Samgut Festival involves a traditional
wedding ceremony to succeed the spirit of tradition. The village is dedicated to discovering
and preserving its traditional culture and offers farm experiences to many
urban dwellers through the ¡°Samgut Festival.¡±

- Ujeonri Village
is a typical mountainous village that has the noted Duwibong in the background
and the clear Okdongcheon nearby. The
village is surrounded by beautiful valleys, tasty Seonryeong Springs, and the
harmonious landscapes of mountains, rivers, and valleys.
Every late
September, Songi mushroom experience and 3-Good Festival are held in the
village. The farmers produce environmentally-friendly
crops and sell them through the village Homepage. To attract tourists, the village offers
various themed programs, including activities making soybean paste, making
tofu, gathering mountain greens, sleeping in traditional Ondol room, and
catching Korean freshwater clayfish.
Samgut is a
traditional way of steaming hemp to make linen.
Ujeonri Village is succeeding the traditional
culture, including Samgut, bowing on New Year¡¯s Day, ritual at Seonghwangdang,
and folk museum, and utilizing it as experiential tourism programs.
