Introducing Saldun Village Saldun Village is a clean region
located by the upstream of Naerincheon Stream in Nae-myeon Hongcheon-gun,
Gangwon-do. Well-known for its beautiful landscapes, this
village is surrounded by Sutdol Peak, a 1,444m-high peak which divides
Inje-gun and Hongcheon-gun as a stem of Mt. Bangtae. The area
round the mountain is called Samdunsagari, including Saldun, Woldun,
and Daldun to the south and Achimgari, Yeongari, Jeokgari, and Myeongjigari
to the north. Saldun Village was widely introduced to Korea
by Saldun Cabin. Saldun Cabin is one of the 100 most beloved
cabins in Korea. The eye-catcher is the cabin¡¯s unique architecture
which combines Korean traditional log cabin, Japanese architecture,
and temple architecture in a two-story structure. Saldun Village¡¯s
major specialties are soybean, pepper, cucumber, Napa cabbage, potato,
native honey, painted maple sap, and soybean blocks and paste.

Village Information ¡ÛJurisdiction: Saldun Village, Hongcheon, Gangwon ¡ÛGeographical
EnvironmentSaldun Valley, which flows across the village, cherishes
the original beauty of Naerincheon Stream from Mt. Odae. It
is covered by luxurious virgin forests from the entrance. The
original village was established when those who planned to re-enthrone
King Danjong hid here in the Joseon Dynasty. Jeonggamrok also
refers to this place as one of the seven evacuation sites.

Characteristics The upstream of Naerincheon Stream is a popular
rafting course in the summer. Its clean valleys, magnificent
natural environment, and relatively well-preserved unpolluted ecological
environment produces quality soybean for soybean paste, potatoes,
mountain greens and herbs. ¡ÛVillage Projects *

Theme Village Project by Rural Development Administration in 2005.
Also selected for Regional Specialty Project (soybean industry)
and received KRW80,000,000 of subsidies. All local people,
