History and legend
Gulbang rock legend
This rock has similar story with Woolsan rock in Mt. Seorak which was late for the registration of the 12000 peaks of Mt. Kumkang, because it was fascinated by the beautiful scene of Mt. Seorak, only to stay on the spot. The Gulbang rock also was late for the registration, while it was enchanted by the scene of Mt. songni. Another legend for its name is that Kyungup Lee, the admiral of Chosun Dynasty, was training for seven years in Mt. songni when he used the rock(present Gulbang rock) as gulbang. So, there is a trace of gulbang on its surface.

  * Gulbang rock [rock] : The rock at the Sujung mountain in the back.

Kyungupdae legend
The place was so named because the admiral Kyungup had been training military arts with his master St. Dokbo. There is a rock named Twimkeum nearby over which he used to train himself for huddling.
The water below the cavern he used to drink was named Jangunsu(Jangun means admiral) which is known as the water for eternal youth that tourists visiting there are enjoying its freshness.

  * Kyungupdae [rock] : The rock at the left bottom of Ibsukdae.

Mokyokso legend
There flows a crystal-clear stream through fantastic rocks and cliffs decorated with aged pine tree along the line upwards the Bukchun rock from Bubju temple in Mt. Songni. The stream is called the Mokyokso(bathroom) where there is a broad room for about ten people to enjoy bathing in a shallow water surrounded by flat rocks.
King Sejo ordered Buddhist monks to hold memorial service in the place and he himself used to go there for bathing. Especially, St. Hakjo, St. Shinmi, and St. Hakyol used to hold memorial service in Bukchunam.
Sejo joined the service and went out to this Mokyokso for bathing alone although vassals tried to stop him from going outside alone. It was so cold. He looked at himself reflected on the surface of the water.
At the moment a lad appeared suddenly and introduced himself as Wolkwangtaeja(Moonlight Crown Prince) who said that he came to the earth by the command to heal the body suffering from disease. He said that the disease from which the king was suffering would be gone away. And he disappeared. King was very surprised but delight at the unknown event.
On the very spot the boy disappeared was made a huge rock. As the king finished bathing and started to wear his cloth, he found himself relieved of the tumor he had. From the myth, it began to be called as Mokyokso(Mokyok means bathing, so means a place)

  * Mokyokso: A pool beside the road to Bokchunam from Bubju temple.

Munjangdae legend
One day a boy named Wolkwangtaeja(Moonlight Crown Prince) came to King Sejo and told him to go up to the Youngbong(a peak named Young) and to pray for there would be an auspicious sign.
Taking the work seriously, king Sejo climbed to the peak together with vassals. They thought as if they were in the heaven because suddenly everything came to be surrounded by cloud and mist, unveiling a brilliant peak.
It had too steep cliff so they brought with themselves the peg and rope to reach the top and found a book, It was about SamgangOryun(the three basic principles in human relations and the three bonds and the five moral rules in human relations handed down from an old Confucian philosophy).
King was moved by the book and discussed the contents of it with his vassals all day long. Since then, the peak began to be named Munjangdae. It is also called as Woon(Woon means cloud)jangdae because the peak is always veiled by cloud.

  * Munjangdae : A peak 1054m high above the sea level, which is located 6 km away from the east of Bubju temple. On the top of peak is there a huge rock that is capable of about 50 people to play.
