Hamyang County is located in the west-north part of Gyungnam Province where is surrounded by high mountains like the 1st National Park, Mt. Chiri and the 10th National Park, Mt. Deogyu. It is known as the area which keeps the mystery of ancient times and has scenic beauty. This place is also famous for the home of scholars, especially for Youngnam school called left-to-Andong, right-to-Hamyang. As well as a water mill was used pratically here for the first time, there are lots of tourist attractions and historic relics which shed breath of ancient sages.

Still the warm-hearted people's mind live there. Especially, Hwarimdong Valley and Yongchoo Valley keep many old pavilion which make traveller to stop. Hamyangsanglim formed 1,100 years ago is the pride and valuables of Hamyang, because it is the largest forest-by-lake in the country and a natural monument. It is very highlited as the Nation's tourist resort. In terms of art, it is the stage of Hamyang-Mr. Park fairy tale and Pyunkangshoe fairy tale. It has very unique folk songs like Hamyang-yangjam-song, Jilgutnaegi, Marchun, peeling a dried persimmons song.

Specially the Hamyang-yangjam-song was collected in folk song book and distributed all over the country. Hamyang is located in the center of southern inland in Korea. The 88 Highway and Daejeon -to-Chinju Highway cross each other there. It will become a key traffic point after Kunsan-to-Ulsan Highway is opened for traffic, because it will takes you to Daejeon, Chinju, Kwangju, Daegu, Kunsan, Ulsan city within an hour. In terms of administrative division, there are population of 50,000 in one town and 10 myeons. It consists of 78% for mountains and only 14% for farmland, but still its main industry is agriculture. Its specialties are onions, chestnut, apple, strawberry, domestic breed black pig, black goat, lacquerd products. 

It locates in the east side of Hamyang Countyand Hwasan-ri is Myeon location. Originally it was Sageun station as Sageun-dochalbang's residence, but now it is Sageun-myeon because of shutdown. Under the reorganization of administrative district in 1914, the part of Dobuk-myeon, Mogan-myeon, Paikto-myeon was combined to Sudong-myeon. People called it as Sudong myeon because it is placed in the east to Namkye-creek.

Its 160 km range reaches from Anui-myeon to Saengcho-myeon.    Currently, it includes 8 dong/ri and 19 villages such as Hwasan-ri, Wonpyong-ri, Naeback-ri, Sangback-ri, Hagyo-ri, Dobuk-ri, Juksan-ri, Woomyung-ri, etc. There are also low Mt. Seungan, Mt. Yeonhwa, Mt. Golmu and Namkye-creek runs along the west-north border. Agriculture is its main industry which produces food crops, vegetables and leaf tobacco a lot.

Also it is each to reach by traffic. There are many attractions such as Seungansaji three-stories-stone-pagoda, Seokjoyerae-seated-statue, Guchun, Namkye, Chungkye, Hwasan and Sageun-memorial hall-for-Confucianist, as well as old tombs built in the era of the Three Kingdoms.  Many historic relics have been found since the ancient settlements had been developed along the river from the era of tribe nations. People who own fertile soil were wealthy, so they respected study and more scholars lived and left relics.

The symbol, which will represent Hamyang County as vision language, is based on the pure nature and scholar's spirit. The blue water mill indicates the history and tradition of the first village in Korea, in which water mill was used practically by Sir Ji-won Park, Yeonam.

The green mountain, reminding of shape of a traditional cylindrical Korean hat, expresses superb scenic beauty of pure and clean nature and the sun, rising from the base of stable triangle, represents dynamic power of the County people who are making every effort for future progress.

Also, to be distinguished and to increase the recognition in the regional agricultural products market, an integral brand¡¸Chunyun Gikimee(Millennium Defender)¡¹is developed and used for package boxes of products, sacks, bags and package papers. The County's mascot ¡¸Wooridoori¡¹, a mixed concept of the solid and tight onion's image and the future-oriented children's image to create new shape of onion, is widely used as a promotion agency of the County.
