As mentioned in the village name, in Yusuam Village, there is water spouting from the crack of base rock which is called Yusuamcheon.

People first found this place a long time ago when a temple named Taeam was built nearby.  After that, Sambeolchogun, the troops led by General Kim, Tong Jeong used Yusuamcheon, along with ¡¸Gusi Water¡¹and ¡¸Ongseong Water¡¹ as drinking water when they made Hangpadu Castle as their base.

Also, the water was used for other purposes besides drinking.  To keep the fountainhead clean and pure, cistern for drinking and storage was built separately and a water passage was built to make the water flow to a wash place built nearby.  This scientific arrangement shows the intelligence of our predecessors.  The used water reused in a big pond for the horses.  Yusuamcheon, which offered abundant benefit for hundreds of years, took its current form in October, 1987.  Sincere devotion of a benevolent person who was born in Yusuam Village made Yusuamcheon take its clean form.

There are some reasons proving that Yusuamcheon has been protecting the village.  Due to the constant cleanness and purity of water, none of the villagers suffered contagious diseases such as cholera since the village foundation, and also death caused by serious illness was very rare between the villagers.

Additionally, not only the villagers of Geumdeok-ri but the villagers from nearby villages including Jangjeon, Sogil-ri also used Yusuamcheon as drinking fountain. Although today, it is easy to use water due to the development of water supply system, at that time, people used water from Yusuamcheon through irrigation water supply system.  The water tank used to store water during that time still remains in villages of Jangjeon and Sogil-ri.
