Location
This place is known for the beauty of Dadohae and its outstanding sunset view.  A lot of tourists come to enjoy its particularly beautiful views in summer.  Tongyeong City carried out improvement on this place by expending parking lots and building restrooms, and shops for the convenience of the tourists.  On January 21, 1997, the square-roofed pavilion, Gwanhaejeong, was established.  When its tablet was hung on April 5 that year, one thousand 10-year-old camellia trees were planted around it to create the most pleasant harmony of natural and man-made beauty.  As this is the midpoint when traveling from Downtown Tongyeong on Sanyang Tourism Way, it is the best viewpoint to stop by and feel the true taste of the seas while driving along the romantic coastal way.  Run on Tongyeong Mireukdo Island¡¯s Sanyang Coastal Way by the beautiful scenery of the seas and you will arrive at the greatest scenic point of Hallyeo Maritime National Park at the southern tip of the island.  This is Dara Park.  Park by the entrance and walk up the hill for about five minutes to arrive at Gwanhaejeong Pavilion.  You can sit in the pavilion and leisurely look down on the seas.  If you pass Gwanhaejeong Pavilion and approach the sea, you can experience the feeling of standing at the edge of the land.  From this point, you can see countless unnamed rock islands as well as tens named islands, at a glance such as Daejangjae Island, Sojangjae Island, Jeodo Island, Songdo Island, Haklim Island, Gonri Island, Yeondae Island, Manji Island, Ogok Island, Chudo Island, and Yokjiyeol Island.  You will find the picture-perfect view of Dadohae from here.  Using the large map of the islands posted on one side, it would be fun to relate the names to the islands you see.  This place was called Dara because of its resemblance to an elephant¡¯s ivory, but due to its great views, people now believe its name means this is a good place to observe the moon.  The local people of Tongyeong call it ¡°Darae.¡±
