Baekhwa mountain fortress at the top of Baekhwa mountain in Taean-ub Dongmun-li
was constructed during the time of Goryo King Chungryul (1275-1308). It is 700m
long and 3.5m high. Inside the fortress there are 2 wells and a beacon with
which it made contact with Bukju mountain of Seosan in the east and Dobi mountain
of Buseok in the south. It fell to ruins and now only about 700m of the walls
are left. On Taean-ub Records (1872), it is recorded that the place was dilapidated
as it was constructed already a long time ago, and that it is a difficult place
for people to settle because all sides are made of cliffs.

Anheung fortress (Anheungjin fortress) is located at the hill behing Geunheung-myon
Jeongjuk-li Anheung Port, and it was constructed in the 6th year of King Hyojong
(1655), the 17th king of Joseon dynasty. The walls and the east•west•south•north
gates remain relatively undamaged, and the east gate was called Suseongru, the
west gate Suhongru, the south gate Bokparu, and the north gate was called Samseongru.
Anheung fortress is a stone castle of 1,568m circumference and 3.5m height,
which was selected last July 3rd 1979 by Chungcheongnamdo as the 11th treasure.

The colony of Korean red pines, which are as upright as they would pierce
the sky, are so excellent that they were used to built palaces and ships, and
it makes the person watching to exclaim in amazement.

It is loved as a beach for family unit vacationers because the fine sand
has good quality, the water is shallow, and the slope is slow. The differences
between the rise and fall of the tides, as well as the changes in the current
are relatively severe, so it is best to avoid swimming during ebb tide. It is
equipped with sufficient lodging facilities and recreation facilities, and you
can also enjoy fishing at the nearby breakwater. There is a monument of the
song called Manilpo Love by Ban Ya Wol, which is a famous attraction.

Taean Shindu-li coastal sand dune is the best sand dune in Korea. It is located
at Taean-gun Shindu-li beach, and it is formed of a vast plain of sand like
a desert. Shindu-li coastal sand dune is assumed to have been gradually formed
since about 1.5 thousand years after the Ice Age. It was formed into a sand
hill over a long time as the sand got transported to the coast due to strong
wind and waves.

Gauido is located 5.5㎞ west from Anheung. Jukdo, Bueokdo, Mokgaedo, Jeongjokdo,
Lion Rock, Independent Arch Rock, Turtle Rock, etc, all of which spread out
before you eyes for 40 minutes until you reach Gauido from Anheung port, are
such a magnificent scene. Once in Gauido, the fresh white beach captures the
heart of tourists and the big and small islands far-off are enogh to draw the
eyes of people from cities.

If you drive 9km along the provincial road no.649 in Anmyeondo direction
from Taean, just before Nam-myon you come to see a road sign indicating Mongsanpo
beach. The greatest characteristic of Mongsanpo beach is the vast field of pine
trees that are about 40-50 years old, shallow surface of the sea that is only
2-3℃, and the open white beach that is almost 13km and connecting to Dalsonpo-Cheongpodae.
