Seongbul Valley

- Seongbul Valley is one of the four major valleys of Gwangyang – Donggok Valley, Seongbuk Valley, Eochi Valley, and Geumcheon Valley.  It brings many visitors not only from Gwangyang but also from the southwest region.  Seongbuk Valley is relatively small and is situated on the passage leading to Seongbulsa Temple in Bonggang-myeon of Gwangyang.  Many vacationers come here in summer because it has cool, clear water and many flat rocks.  Follow the valley up to visit Seongbulsa Temple, along with the mountains and valleys nearby.  There also is a luxurious forest that turns yellow and red every fall.

Four Major Valleys of Gwangyang

- Donggok Valley: It originates between Mt. Baegun’s highest peak and Ddoari Peak to the west.  It flows through Okryeong-myeon and Dongcheon of Gwangyang-eup into Gwangyangman Bay.  It is the largest valley in Mt. Baegun.  It is a very popular place for family vacationers as it is wide and accessible.

- Eochi Valley: It was not too long ago that Eochi Valley was introduced to the public.  Among the four major valleys of Mt. Baegun, Eochi Valley is the deepest and the most beautiful one.  The valley is 7km in length and has many falls and pine trees throughout.  Its landscape compares to Mt. Jiri.  Eochi Valley includes Orodae, known for the cool sound of water and birds, as well as the refreshing dews that even form during the day.

- Geymcheon Valley: The wondrous Geumcheon Valley flows from Oknyeo Peak, where fairies came down to loom, to the back of Baegunsa Temple above Seomjin River.  You can observe the breathtaking views of Seomjin River for about 16km from Seomjin River Bridge between Daap-myeon of Gwangyang and Hadong River.  Leave your car at the parking lot and walk about 1km to arrive at Geumcheon Valley that is divided in Dongdong and Seodong.  Geumcheon Valley is well-preserved in its natural form because it is almost unvisited.
