Temple Sinheung, which is located in the foot of Mt. Saja at Sangwol-ri, was built at the7th ruling year(529) of the king Seong in Baekje. Main buildings such as Daewong-jeon have still kept its unique construction style, so it has so precious value.
Besides it is said that buildings such as Daewoong-jeon, Nahan-jeon, the front door of Sansin-gak, and Yosa were not smaller in size than those of temple Geumsan at the time of establishment.
Daewoong-jeon is the main jeon which worships the Buddha and Munsu, Bohyun as his Buddhist saints. Both stylobate and cornerstone are made of natural stones and its roof looks bigger relatively by low pillars. Pillars show baeheulim clearly and wooju shows it more clearly.
The roof looks bigger relatively because the height of pillars is low. The front door has the shape of the teeth of a comb which is divided by 4 windows in the eokan part and 3 windows in the hyupkan part.
The eaves are made up of double eaves and gongpo beneath it has multi-po type, which has 2 chulmoks inside and outside. In the eokan part there are 2 Gonganpo and in the hyupkan part there is 1 gongpo. The end of jegong has the type of angseol , which is not so splendid in terms of sculpture.
But those weak points are covered with Danchung, so it doesn't look simple. The head of changbang has the decoration of boaji-syle and danchung also has the decoration of chohwamun.
In terms of whole building the width in the side is relatively wide. Particularly, the eokan is so wide that we can take a guess the space of naejin is deep. And that they seem to pay attention to the side by the fact that the line of Pungpan is finished smoothly or the hip of the side is arranged neatly with birds just like the front.
