A long flower-stem sprouts around June to form cymes. The 5-way divided
star-shaped blossoms with 2~3cm-long diameters display light purple or white
colors. After the blossoms, small fruits resembling tomatoes are born.
They are used to make Soju and other alcohol and potato starches are used
for Chinese noodles and industrial purposes as well as for good feeds. Amino
acids taking more than half of nitric compound contain more essential amino
acids than flours. The sprouts of stems contain 1st-class alkaloid, Solanine.
It is toxic, so try not to eat potatoes with many sprouts or bluish discoloration.
2. Characteristics of Yeongjeon Village Yellow Earth Potatoes
Yeongjeon Village’s yellow earth potatoes are cultivated in organic yellow
earth fields, so they are large in sizes and bright in colors for great tastes.
The sweet potatoes of Yeongjeon Village are environmentally-friendly produced
natural food. As pumpkins and moisture sweet potatoes are combined, they
have high sweetness, crunchy fruit and great taste. Yellow Earth pumpkin sweet potatoes produced in coastline yellow earth are
highly sweet when grilled or steamed and crunchy fruits when eaten fresh. Sweet potatoes contain not only fibers, but also white tree saps to enhance
defecation. Sweet potatoes have been known to beautify skin, because they
enhance defecation. Sweet potatoes are alkali food with abundant potassium along with Vitamin
B and C. Vitamin C of sweet potatoes remains 70~80% of the total content
even when cooked.
