Also called muddy lignum mushroom in Korean, Phellinus lintus is noted as the mushroom that grows on mulberry trees in Donguibogam.  The cap is 6-12cm in diameter and 2-10cm in thickness and can be semi-circular, flat, convex, or horseshoe-shaped.  The surface is covered with dark-brown hair that disappears as the mushroom grows.  The mushroom has dark-brown hooks and develops cracks vertically and horizontally.  The edges are bright yellow with yellow-brown bottom.  It is also yellow-brown inside.  It has no stem and its spore is a light yellow-brown ball.

Phillinus lintus is a perennial fungus that grows on mulberry trees.  It looks like a lump of clay at first and then becomes to look like a tongue on the trunk.  It is known to contain anti-cancerous substances and is mass-produced in Korea as a precious medicine.  It makes yellow or pale yellow tea when brewed and has no taste or flavor.  It is enjoyable to drink as tea.  Phellinus lintus also grows in Japan, Australia, and North America.
