Odae rice is high quality species with that was bred for good taste.
The Odae rice plant created at the chop experiment station in 1982. It has been cultivated for twenty years. With its good taste and excellent species hereditarily this rice has become famous and it now cultivated all over the world including California in America, East-North three provinces of China,. It is identifiable by its large size grains and low salt content after cooking. These caratorisics make it especially good for box lunchs.
Cultivation condition
The quality of Cheorwon Odae rice is superior because is produced in an uncontaminated environment of clean water, fresh air, fertile yellow soil. It is cultivated using clean water that flows from the DMZ area. The whole district of Cheorwon province is so untouched it has been declared a uncontaminated area (Ministry of Environment notice No.94-40)
The mountain, river, field are managed so that there is no pollution, so the rice plants can grow in clean, pleasant air. Cheorwon rice is chiefly cultivated in fertile yellow soil, inorganic matter is plentiful, creatina rice with a structure that is heavier and more elaborate than any other rice. Agricultural chemicals spaying are rarely used because outbreak of damages by blight and harmful insects is few, futher enhancing the quality of the rice.
The lack of hamful insects is because Cheorwon has the climate is such that that winter is long and spring, summer, fall are short and cold. Theses conditions keeps away the harmful insects.
