Daegwanryeong Snow Blossom Festival, Korea¡¯s first snow-themed festival, is a traditional winter festival of Korea and was selected on of "12 Festivals of Ministry of Culture and Tourism" in 2000. Called Korea¡¯s Roof, Daegwanryeong opens Snow Blossom Festival every year. As it generally snows more than 1m in winter, all lifestyles of the villagers have naturally coexisted with snow and been developed into the festival. It is a citizen¡¯s festival opened and developed by the citizen and it displays unique life events of this snow village. Naturally developed by Pyeongchang¡¯s Ski Club based on the winter environments of this region, Daegwanryeong Snow Blossom Festival still includes ski-walking competition, oxcart and mancart experience, winter mountain-hiking competition and Hwangbyeong Mountains¡¯ hunting. Based on its traditions, it is being developed into an international festival.
