Hwang River Sand Festival
Introduction

It is opened every first Saturday and Sunday of August in Hwang Riverside for river-swimming, sand-massaging, beach-volleyball, running along water, sand soccer, water-wrestling and sand-sculpting to strengthen the physical stamina and reinforce friendships. Hwang River is the first tributary of Nakdong River, the life of Yeongnam, and is called Namjeong River. The source of Hwang River is around the border of Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk on Deogyu Mountains. It flows through Geochang, Hapcheon Lake and Hapcheon to meet Nakdong River at Jeokpo-ri, Cheongdeok-myeon, Hapcheon. The river covers 1,325.6km and is 116.9km long. It is wide and flows calmly. This non-polluted river had abundant fish and golden sand with broad white-sand beach where you can enjoy river-swimming and sand-massaging. Therefore, it is favored as the summer vacation resort for families.
